Foreword “How many a man has dated a new era in his life from the reading of a book!” So wrote Henry David Thoreau in chapter 3 of Walden nearly a century and a half ago, and many of us agree with him. I recall what happened to me when as a young minister I first read A.W. Tozer’s The Pursuit of God. It was like the dawning of a new day as the blinders were removed from the eyes of my heart.
